“I want a home that is the shape of the symbol that has meaning to me”
We are a species that seeks for meaning in all aspects of our lives and our environments. One of the most powerful ways to hold and convey meaning is through symbolism. Many natural shapes, forms and patterns touch us and hold our attention, and give us a map to explore our worlds.
This house design is based on such an understanding, and utilises three of the famous and intrinsically beautiful Golden Spiral patterns (or symbols) as the basis of its expression. There are three of these spirals extending put from a shared central point, which is anchored within an internal courtyard, which lets light breathe into the center of the house. There are three sedum (grass) roofs that slide into each other, reminiscent of the flowing robes of a dancing Sufi master. Under each is a very comfortable two bedroom home with many surprises; secret doorways, window alcoves, courtyard access and a very natural organic finish throughout.
This home is ideal for people who are open to create and live within a home that is based on and embodies a symbol of higher meaning.
