“I want a home that is unique and special”
When we hear the word ‘penthouse’ we immediately think of some exclusive top floor apartment in a very expensive urban neighbourhood. However, the word ‘pent’ means five, and this house design is literally five sided (Pentagonal), which opens up a very interesting range of possibilities for the creation of a very unique living environment.
Geometrically the Pentagon contains a very harmonic set of inner fractal star symmetries which are all based on the ‘Golden Ratio’, which is Natures preferred pattern for life, connection and growth. The resulting plan matrix directly informs the internal layout of the rooms and spaces, as they wrap around an inner living space lit from above by a large roof window. The internal angle of the five sided geometry (108 degrees) invites a very special feeling and generates a beautiful sense of connectivity and flow.
One of the five corners remains opened but covered by a glazed roof structure, which is perfect for sitting out in all weather. The addition of two circular spaces that extend out from the geometry, give opportunity for a home office / studio, or a guest suite. This home is especially tuned for people who seek to express and define themselves through the creation of something very unique. The actual construction is very straight forward and simple, yet the effect of the shape, and the special feeling of the spaces within, all contribute to the manifestation of a home that is truly one of a kind.
